Content Info For The Week
Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):
Students will learn how to write systems of equations, solve those systems, and interpret what those solutions mean.
Algebra I (Meeks):
Student will continue working with the characteristics of quadratic functions Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday we will begin to solve for the roots of quadratic functions.
ELA (Styron and Barker):
This week students will begin by completing the 3rd Reading MAP test of the school year. They will also continue working with verbs in active and passive voice, and cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
ELA (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will finish their rough draft of their informational essay and complete revisions in preparation for their final draft. Students will learn how to organize their sources using MLA format. We will continue reviewing key standards in preparation for GMAS. ELA MAP testing will take place on Monday, March 6th.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their analysis of Shakespeare's work by beginning to read the classic play Romeo and Juliet. Students will examine how language usage and characterization help to convey strong themes that remain relevant after more than 400 years. ELA MAP testing will take place on Monday, March 6th.
Science (Carver and Lewis):
Students will taken a mid unit assessment over waves the first half of the week. After their test they will begin learning vocabulary for the next position of the unit over lenses.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will learn about the impact Georgia had on WWII. This will include contributions made from various military training camps, the old Bell Bomber plant in Marietta, and the shipyards in both Savannah and Brunswick. Students will also learn about the contributions made by key Georgians such as Richard Russell and Carl Vinson leading up to America's involvement in WWII.
