WWll By:jasmin abbott
Appeasement is the act or process of pacifying someone by acceding to their demands. It was a bad policy because you see in this cartoon that he is offering one more lollipop and then they have to go home but they will only go home and come back with more dragons and when he stops offering lollipops they will eat him.
Plan yellow- Germany wanted to hold off Russia but wanted to avoid a 2 front war so they didn't send troops in but they signed a Non aggression pact in August of 1939. Germany focused more west and went through Belgium to get to Paris, Germany attacked France and caused some damage in Paris. In June of 1940 Paris and France fell and signed a treaty. This plans worked until 1942 it stopped working because the U.S joined the war and the Germans got stopped in Russia.
:{United States "unneutral neutral country}: Before the war started Roosevelt and Churchill met up and discussed when it was absolutely necessary for them to enter the war that they would focus on Europe. So we already had sort of a plan of who we would go after and neutral countries wouldn't necessarily do that. The United States were unneutral neutral country because they were selling supplies to only to our Allies not the Axis and neutral countries would be selling to both sides, so we obviously favored one side.

U.S.S Arizona
On December 7, 1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the Arizona was bombed. Unlike a lot of the other ships that were bombed or attacked that day, the Arizona was totally demolished and could not be fully salvaged. 1,177 officers and crew died on that ship that day. Men who survived this bombing on this ship can go be buried down there with the rest of their men if they decide to. The Arizona ship is still at the bottom of Pearl Harbor. The USS Arizona Memorial was dedicated on May 30, 1962, to those who died during the bombing.
FDR's Day of Infamy Speech
The first edit which I think is the most important edit is where he had written "world history" but changed it to "infamy" without that edit we wouldn't have the title of this speech. World History and Infamy almost mean the same thing but saying world history makes it sound prominent for something good, and according to dictionary.com infamy means the state of being well known for some bad quality or deed. So therefore it makes it not sound so prominent or something we should be proud to remember. He also changed "simultaneously" with "suddenly". I think he changed this because it makes it sound more like we had no clue it was coming because we didn't.

The Rosies shaped the world to what it is today. Before the war people thought woman did not work. They also thought woman suddenly went to the factories to help out in the war efforts. We obviously see that this is not the truth, woman were needed and very helpful. Their jobs though included the minor ones, they were told that when the war was over and the men were brought home that their jobs would be given to them. It was not that easy the government quickly learned, and had to find a better way to get them out. They woman were not budging. Because of that we now have woman being held to a higher standard up with the men. Woman can now have any jobs that the men have. They can own their own business or be in the military, woman can now do whatever they please. Being a woman myself I am very grateful for this.
Dear Family July 1, 1944
I know it has been a while since you have heard from me, just know that I am deeply sorry. As you know D-day was about a month or so ago and it was so crazy! We Stormed Omaha beach, and not to worry you but I am so lucky to be Alive! I am so happy that I will be able to see you guys again, I will not take a day for granite again! Ill just tell you a little overview of what happened that day. We had a lot of troops and landing crafts all of my men were okay, but some other crafts were not that lucky. I'm sorry to be the bear of bad news but Gerald was on another landing craft and they did not make it. My squad scrambled up on the beach in heavy fire. It was all chaos. I never want to go through any of it again, the war should be over soon........ Love your son Johnathan

Germany Surrendered
A lot of changes happened in Germany after they surrendered. The most important thing was to make sure something like this never happened again so the Allies made it to where all Germans who wanted to be a teacher or a servant or to run for any political office they need a document stating that they had not been active Nazis. This was called denazification. Also there were for sure plans to break up Germany into regional states or for it to be turned into an agricultural nation.
"Island Hopping"
This was the United States strategy in the Pacific. This attack was lead by General Douglas MacArthur, and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. The plan was that the U.S troops would target Island that were not that strongly defended by the Japanese. They would take control of those Islands first, then they proceeded to attack other islands from their already established bases. The U.S army slowly but surely moved closer and closer to Japan, and took control of a lot of the surrounding islands.
Battle of Midway
This Battle was a very important turning point for the Allies. This victory allowed them to be in an offensive position for once. This Battle took place 6 months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The U.S beat Japan in "one of the most decisive naval battles of World War ll". They broke some codes in order preempt and counter act Japan's plan of their ambush of its very few remaining aircraft carriers. This left permanent damage on the Japanese Navy.
Justified in the use of Atomic Bombs
I think the United States was justified in using the atomic bombs against Japan in 1945. They knew they needed an end to the war and this was it. They wanted to limit the amount of U.S causalities in the war by shortening it with atomic bombs. The view on the U.S side is they had suffered losses of both civilian and military of over 417,000 lives. If they were to send troops into japan they would have lost even more lives and they were not doing that so to prevent that they used the atomic bombs. It was an extreme act but a justified one in which it worked to end the war.
