World Marrow Donor Day (WMDD) is celebrated globally on the third Saturday of September. A unique day to thank all donors, who have signed up to donate blood stem cells for patients in need of a transplant. WMDD also gives the opportunity to patients to explain the impact of blood stem cell transplantation on their lives.
WMDD was celebrated for the fourth time in 2018 on 15th of September. 'Thank you donor’ was the general theme. This report is a brief compilation of the impact of WMDD 2018.

MIXED RACE DONORS
It is difficult to find a matched donor in general, however for patients with a mixed race heritage or from ethnic minorities it is proven to be even harder.
In 2018 we have seen a growing dedication to focus on creating awareness in these populations to increase the number of mixed race donors in the worldwide register.
