Thank you to everyone for following our Covid rules and working hard to keep our school community safe and well.

We value our children's ideas, opinions and creativity. Today, we celebrated all of the children who made it into the Golden Book this week.

Other News

Covid Update

Unfortunately, Covid has been high on our agenda this week. We have had a number of staff and children absent from school with Covid. Thankfully nobody has become very poorly and symptoms appear to be mild. This has had an impact on the daily running of the school and staff are doing everything to provide the best possible education for our children during this challenging time.

As a school community, we can all do our bit to help. We ask that you look out for the following 3 key symptoms of COVID-19 in your child:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste

If your child has any of these three key symptoms, please do not send your child to school and arrange a PCR test for them immediately, unless they are under 5 years of age. You can book a PCR test online through the NHS website at gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119. Anyone else in your household with any of these three key symptoms should also isolate and take a PCR test.

If any member of your household has tested positive for COVID-19, we also recommend that children over 5 should take a daily lateral flow test every day for seven days.

Please keep school informed of any positive Lateral Flow or PCR tests and the end date for isolation.

Football News

Our school football took part in the Wrexham Primary Schools Football Tournament at Cefn Druids FC this week. This was the first time our school football team have played for nearly two years. They displayed a fantastic team spirit and attitude! Thank you to Mr Barnes for coaching the team.

Red Nose Day

On Friday 18th March, we will be holding a non uniform day in aid of Red Nose Day. Donations can be made via our Red Nose Just Giving Page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/minera-aided-primary-school1

Virtual Parents Evening

Our Spring Term parents evening will take place on Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th March. Similar to our Autumn term meetings, this will be a virtual meeting using a website called School Cloud. A letter will be sent shortly with details on how to book your appointments.

*Please note the change of date*

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day in Minera School on Thursday 31st March. Children can dress up as their favourite book character.

Our Christian Value

Our Christian Value this half term is ‘Justice’. Children will be exploring this value during collective worship and daily life in school.

Year 5/6 have been writing prayers about Justice.

Friends of Minera

We have a busy few weeks with our fundraising efforts. We plan to use the money raised to buy new reading books and contribute towards playground markings.

Silver Smarties

We hope the children have been helping at home and doing jobs for 20p for the Silver Smarties fundraiser. Thank you for your support with this. Please return tubes by Friday 11th March.

Easter Raffle

We will be holding an Easter Raffle again this year and there will be a non-uniform day on Thursday 24th March for donations of items. Easter eggs, chocolates and bottles of wine would be much appreciated. The draw will take place on Thursday 7th April.

Platinum Jubilee Celebration Tea Towel

We are in the process of designing a school tea towel. Every child will draw a picture of themselves and these will be printed on a tea towel with a special border to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This will make a lovely momento of this very special occasion. These will be available to order for £3.50. Details and an order form will be sent home soon
