"Teach us to number our days…"

Hi everyone,

The whole world has never experienced what we are experiencing today because of that tiny virus called Covid-19. The devastations and disruptions to lives, businesses, politics, etc. was massive beyond our wildest imagination in terms of scope and severity. And we are still counting and evaluating. Psalm 90:12 comes to my mind as l sought the Lord for direction recently. “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (NIV)

It’s a very sobering time. The NET Bible puts it even clearer, “So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.” This season of severe disruption has taught us some very important lessons that we may have taken for granted in the past.

• We need to walk humbly before God because we do not have control of life. "You do not know what will happen tomorrow…Life is a vapour” James 4:13-17
• We need to love and value our family and not sacrifice them at the altar of busyness “…no one ever hates his own flesh…” Eph. 5:22-29
• We need to take pay attention to build Christ-cantered relationship in church that will stand the test of inconveniences. “Nourished and knitted together…” Col. 2:19
• We need to live right today in the light of eternity knowing we will also be judged with what we do with our life today. “For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ…” 2 Cor. 5:10-11
• We need to dedicate ourselves to serve God if given the opportunity and not surrender it to the “passing pleasures.” “Choose…. God…than to enjoy the passing pleasures…” Heb. 11:24-27
• We need to preach the Gospel and cry out to God for a mighty revival to prepare the Church to meet her Coming King. “This Gospel will be preached to the whole world…then the end will come” Matt. 24:14
• We need to be ready for the Rapture that may happen any time. “We who are alive will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.” 1 Thess. 4:17

I am sure, there are many more detailed and personal thoughts that the Holy Spirit will bring to your attention as you seek God with a heart of faith and posture of humility.

Let us rise up as priests together, as the church to pray and stand in the gap for friends and family, for the church, community and nations.
