Kinetic energy- energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in motion.
I use kinetic energy when I run, make toast and throw up.
You can change kinetic energy to a different form by stopping its motion.
Elastic potential energy- stored energy from an elastic type object like a spring.
Elastic potential energy can be changed into kinetic energy
Gravitational potential energy- energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitational field.
Examples of this: a rock has energy stored from the gravitational field, so do toasters and bread
When an object falls, its gravitational potential energy is changed to kinetic energy.
Chemical energy-energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds
Chemical energy can be a fire, leaf person doing its thing and making bombs
Chemical energy can be converted into thermal energy and light energy
Nuclear energy-energy released during nuclear fission or fusion
Examples of Nuclear energy- atomic bombs, radiation and fission/fusion
Nuclear energy can be converted to electricity
Thermal energy is energy that comes from heat
Examples of thermal energy- fire, boiling water, winter coat
Thermal energy can be converted to mechanical energy
Light energy is energy that we can see
Examples of light energy- fire, lit light bulbs, the sun
Light energy can be converted to heat, electric, nuclear, and sound energy
Electrical energy is an electric charge that lets work be accomplished
Examples of electronic energy is light bulbs and outlets and batteries and of course Mike "the electric fence" Pence
Electric energy can be converted to heat and light and mechanical energy
Sound energy is the vibration of matter
Examples of sound energy- vibrations through air, guitars and basically all vibrations
Sound energy can be converted to heat energy
