It was so nice to see smiling faces this week! Masks are optional, if you wish for your student to continue to wear one. Bus riders do need to mask to and from school due to a federal mandate. We are planning to stick with our current structure at lunch of four to a table as it creates a much calmer lunch environment. By doing this, we don't have space in the cafe for guests at this time. We appreciate your continuous support as I realize this has been difficult at times on our students and families.
Spirit Wear Sale: Families have another opportunity to purchase spirit wear. Please read more information below about this opportunity through our PTO.
We’ve heard some of you have seen the spirit wear from our previous sale and would like to place an order for your own shirts! The tie-dye shirts in particular have been a big hit! We are reopening our spirit wear store beginning tomorrow, Saturday, February 26th through Friday, March 11th!! Weston and GC apparel for children and adults is available for ordering online through the local screen printing store, Organic Robot Designs. The shirts in our online store from the popular brand Bella+Canvas are very soft but we have found that this particular style tends to run small and seems to be pretty fitted, so we suggest sizing up. Weston Fundraiser
Weston Elementary will be having a fundraiser March 7 - March 31. All proceeds go directly back to the classrooms to fund special projects, field trips, etc. Please check out the information below. Each student will be supplied with an order form and an example bag. We appreciate your support of our students and school! Materials will be coming home soon.
February 21st: President’s Day (No School/Weather Make-up Day)
March 7th - 11th: IREAD 3 Assessment (third grader students only)
March 14th- 25th: Spring Break (March 14-18 Weather Make-up Days)

2-Hour Delay Schedule:
In the event of a 2-hour delay, the school doors will open at 9:20. The tardy bell rings at 9:40. No breakfast is served on delay days.
Virtual Learning Day Schedule:
As winter weather is upon us, we would encourage you to plan ahead in the event of a school cancellation. Please be prepared to have your student on-line for live virtual instruction with their classroom teacher at 9:00 AM. Your teacher will communicate a daily schedule with you in the event that in-person learning is canceled for a virtual learning day.
Cold Temperatures:
Recess: As the weather turns colder, please ensure your student is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.
Cougar Cubs Preschool enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year will begin on February 1, 2022. There are now 2, 3, and 5 day options available at both locations. Cougar Cubs accepts CCDF vouchers, On My Way Pre-K vouchers, and the Build, Learn, Grow scholarship. Seussical Musical: We are very excited to announce auditions for our summer 2022 musical, Seussical the Musical! This will be our first production in a few years in which there will be roles for both adults and children and we would love to have a good turn-out of Hancock county residents. We are very much looking forward to this production and would love to see you all there, whether on-stage or out in the audience! Thank you!
- All roles are open and available.
- Leads will be filled by adults, but ensemble roles are open for students age 10-18. We will also need a small group of dancers only.
- Be prepared to sing 16-32 bars or a verse and chorus of a Broadway song (not from this show). Bring PRINTED music in the key you want to sing in. No acapella singing or singing with tracks. Also, prepare to dance a short routine.

Mrs. Heller's art classes made 3-D emotion people today. Students have been working with Mrs. Miller and the Second Step program in their classrooms about recognizing emotions using faces and body language. Their pictures today took some simple materials and students were able to select whatever feeling they chose and make a person with that feeling. It was fun to see them use what they had learned in the classroom in a bit of a different way.
