Class 10 Learning Journey Autumn Term 2 - 2022/2023

Literacy

During Literacy this half term we have focused on formal, persuasive letter writing.

We have built on skills such as active/passive voice to imply innocence or guilt. The use of cohesive devices to control the flow and precision of our letters. Implementing this all with emotive and opinionated vocabulary. Blending together introductions, arguments and a conclusion. As well as balancing our point of views with the reader's.

As a hook into our new unit we received a letter from Mrs Padfield, declaring that the Christmas holidays were going to be reduced to a single week.

We thought carefully about how we would feel if we were in Charlie's position and reflected this in our final outcome.

A selection of excellent writing pieces have been achieved by both the year 5 and 6 pupils.

Earning an independence certificate for their hard work in self-editing and improving their piece.

In LIRA this term, we have covered a wide variety of texts - focusing on many forms of nonfiction pieces.

We have also looked at a selection of 'Switched Fairy-tales'.
