Making way for progress in the United Arab Emirates is commonplace and nowhere more so than in the emirate of Dubai. Many of the early colonies established by Sheikh Rashid to house migrant workers have been demolished and replaced with infrastructure for a modern city. These photos capture the colonies in various states of transition between 2003-2009.
