Where did the corn come from?🌽

This week in computing we have been looking at what it means to design something. Over the next few weeks the children will be creating their own books about mini beasts. On the first page of the children’s book they drew a picture of themselves as well as writing their name. I am looking forward to seeing how these books develop overtime.

This week in art the children looked at pictures of The Tree of Life. They explored what they could see and discussed how the pictures were created. The children next created their own drawing of a tree and thought carefully about how it would look. They thought about whether it would have lots of branches or just a few, how would the leaves look, would there be flowers on the tree etc. I was really impressed with the children’s designs!

The children have enjoyed comparing birds and reptiles this week and did a brilliant job sorting the animals into groups. They talked about what was the same and what was different and then they recorded their ideas down.

This week we had a lovely treat, Amy and Katy from Cornerstone delivered a cookery lesson for us. The lesson was all about corn. The children thought very carefully about where the corn came from and how it could be made into lots of different foods. The children then looked at the ingredients to make corn muffins and did such a good job combining the ingredients together to make them. The muffins were delicious and the children had a brilliant time. Amy and Katy ended the lesson by talking about being thankful for food and we even looked at mindful eating.
