Dear Parents/Carers,
Good news! This is the second version of this newsletter as the BBC News and Wales Online are currently reporting that the proposed strike action next week has been cancelled. As a result, school will be open as normal, everyday next week.
As ever, if there is anything we can do to further support your child and/or your family, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My email address is: Williamsr1688@hwbcymru.net
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Williams.
Fun in the Snow!
On Wednesday morning, snow arrived for the first time in several years! All classes had ten minutes extra play at 10:00 and it is safe to say that everyone had a lot of fun!
Easter Egg Raffle
Tickets are for sale at the school office with Mrs. Greenish.
Chewing Gum Issue
It appears that a large amount of chewing gum is being discarded on the tarmac at the entrance to our Early Years unit. Please do not discard any used chewing gum in this area as it takes a considerable amount of time to remove.
Eco-Committee
On Wednesday afternoon, a group of pupils met our eco-schools advisor to discuss their curriculum and all things eco! Once again, the school has been accredited as an 'Eco-School'.
Milford Haven Concert Celebration
Diolch to all of the parents who supported us at our cluster of schools Welsh concert on Wednesday evening. If you missed it, here is a video of pupil reciting a tricky poem!
Friday Sport
We used our Friday afternoon to develop our fitness, football and netball skills this week and we look forward to some matches against Roch School next week!
E-safety - All about 'TikTok'
TikTok is a video sharing app which is very popular with teenagers and young adults in particular. The app is designed for those who are aged 13 years and above. It can come with several risks so should not be used by primary aged pupils but we know that many of our older pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 have their own mobile phones and regularly access TikTok without adult supervision.
Risks to children include:
- Being exposed to age-inappropriate content
- Dangerous challenges e.g. the blackout trend
- Contact with strangers - especially as accounts registered by anyone claiming to be over 16 years old are automatically set to public so strangers can download and comment on a child's uploaded videos.
If you have children aged 13 or above at home and your child is using TikTok, we would recommend you setting up the ‘family pairing option’. Family Pairing features let parents link their TikTok account to their teen’s account to enable a variety of content and privacy settings.
This will enable you to ensure:
- Your child’s account is private
- Set restrictions on comments on videos
- Set restrictions on direct messages
- Set restrictions on daily screen time
- And set up restricted mode
