Adobe Australia's Reconciliation Highlights FY 22 Adobe Australia acknowledges Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and recognises theIR continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
Our vision for reconciliation is that every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Person is equally respected, valued and included. It is a future where all Australians experience and celebrate the connections between country, communities, and creativity - forged by its First Nations Peoples.
Adobe is uniquely placed to advance this reconciliation journey with a Reconciliation Action Plan that will iterate, innovate, and evolve alongside our people and technology, to fulfill the emerging needs of an inclusive community. By bringing people and technology together, we can unlock innovative and meaningful opportunities to celebrate culture while acknowledging the past, as well as drive positive change in the present to preserve and empower the enduring and continuous creation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Our approach in developing the Reconciliation Action Plan is to tell the whole story – from attracting and hiring talented people with diverse perspectives to cultivating inclusive workplaces and uplifting our communities. These are all reconciliation imperatives that will underscore our local and global efforts to democratise creativity, digital literacy, and inclusion.
This year we made further progress on our reconciliation efforts with the following initiatives and actions.
CREATIVITY FOR ALL
- We have granted 10x Creative Cloud Licenses to Indigenous entrepreneurs and creatives through Ngarrimili - who provide business guidance and support to First Nation's businesses owners
- We inducted three creatives into Adobe’s Creative Ambassador Program- Kiewa Austin-Rioli, Gerard Black and Charlotte Allingham. We also invited Gerard to DMe’s Make It Event (see picture) where Adobe was given permission to use Gezz’s artwork during the Acknowledgement of Country.
- Charlotte Allingham is also appointed as our artist for Adobe's RAP. You can see Charlotte's artwork in the title image of this page
CREATING EXPERIENCES THAT MATTER
- We helped to launch Adobe's newest employee network - Indigenous / First Nations At Adobe (IFNA) with ANZ a founding member with 221 members across the globe!
- We partnered with Aunty Munya Andrews from Evolve Communities to deliver the mandatory cultural awareness training - The 7 Steps to Practical Reconciliation, for all ANZ employees.
- We invited Renee Wootton (Western Sydney Airport, Pilot, Speaker and a proud Tharawal woman) for a yarning circle on National Close the Gap Day. Watch the replay here.
- Our RAP working group and business allies attended Supply Nation's annual supplier diversity conference - Connect 22
- We submitted an Innovate RAP for review and are awaiting feedback from Reconciliation Australia.
- We now proudly display Acknowledgement of Country plaques across our Sydney and Melbourne reception areas and digital screens
Join our journey towards Reconciliation by taking these actions:
Each one of us can bring the "Adobe For All" vision to life by engaging and taking up these actions to support our journey towards reconciliation:
- Join the Indigenous / First Nations at Adobe network to connect with our Indigenous and First Nations employees and allies. This community aims to increase awareness and advocacy, recruit and retain talent, amplify voices and celebrate the heritage of First Nation people around the world. To get involved join our Slack channel at #en-indigenous-all.
- Complete the mandatory cultural awareness training - The 7 Steps to Practical Reconciliation training designed to empower ourselves to be confident allies to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Practice Acknowledging Country at the beginning of your meetings with customers, partners and at key employee gatherings (All Hands, offsites etc). There is no specific wording for an Acknowledgement of Country, just be sincere and do some research on the Country you are acknowledging. Here's a guideline on how to do this.
- Anonymously self-declare your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage. As part of Adobe Australia's RAP Plan and commitment to creating a culturally safe and inclusive space for our Indigenous employees, we wish to understand the diversity of our employees in Australia and invite you to anonymously provide Adobe with information regarding your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage.
