Mules Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Sweep of Trinity
The Colby Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Trinity Bantams for a two-game set this weekend, sweeping their guests 2-0 and 9-3. The 11 goals marks the highest tally of the season for a weekend of play, and with the victories the Mules begin their ascent up the conference rankings.
Friday night's match was tight from the start, as Trinity's goaltender made numerous key saves to keep the Bantams in reach. Audrey Shirer broke the deadlock in the second period and Tate Senden added an empty net goal late to secure the win.
By Saturday, the Mules had figured out the Bantam netminder... to the tune of nine goals, matching a season-high. Seven different skaters for Colby tallied a goal, with two apiece coming from Bri Michaud-Nolan and Breanna Studley.
Colby welcomed back alumni for the celebration weekend, holding a puck drop from legends of Colby Women's Ice Hockey Susan Conant '75 and Lee Johnson '79.
Colby is now 11-5-0, ranked 5th in the NESCAC.
Women’s Basketball Notches Victories Over Thomas and Conn. College
Colby got back in the win column Tuesday hosting cross-town rival Thomas College. The Mules tallied a season-high 82 points, led by Lily Nagy with 18 points. Carter McGloon added 14 points and just as many rebounds, securing her second double-double of the season.
On Sunday at Conn. College, the Mules took the Camels to the wire. Tied at 46 and holding the ball for a final possession, Caroline Smith charged the lane, inviting a last-second foul that sent her to the line with only .1 seconds remaining in the contest. Connecting on her first attempt, Smith gave the Mules their third conference victory heading into the final weeks. McGloon led Colby in scoring, collecting her second double-double in as many tries with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Colby improves to 8-10 overall and an even 3-3 in NESCAC play, good for 4th place.

Both teams shot the ball well in the second half as the Mules ended the game with a 47.2% shooting percentage. Late in the game the Camels brought the score within four, but Colby held on for the victory 75-71.
