CLIENT HIGHLIGHTS
Making Hospitals a Better Place to Get Better.
enCourage Kids Foundations envisions a world where every child experiences joy, hope, resilience, and emotional healing along their medical journey.
Following are examples of the design and video production work I've produced for enCourage Kids from 2020-2024. You can also view work I did for their "Breaking Barriers" campaign and other creative projects.
In 2020, enCourage Kids celebrated 35 years as an organization. I designed a 35th Anniversary logo that was used across various platforms and materials, including their celebration gala. The anniversary logo played off of their balloon icon, which was featured in the "5" of 35.
In 2021, due to the ongoing pandemic, enCourage Kids had to forego their annual gala and instead launched their virtual Honoring Healthcare Heroes Campaign.
Services and Materials Created: Graphic Design (campaign look, invitation, elements for email and social media, digital journal) | Website Design & Maintenance | Content Production (writing, video editing)
The campaign featured four pediatric healthcare heroes who were on the frontlines during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlighted their stories of courage and resilience as well as analyzed the future challenges they and their young patients were expected to face as a result of the pandemic.
Having conducted interviews with each of the honorees, we then determined four areas that enCourage Kids could help address these needs: Staffing Issues, Creative Therapies, Space Issues, and the Emotional Well-Being of patients. We used these areas of need to help aid in the fundraising.
The campaign was launched with a traditional print invitation that invited supporters to follow along on the website.
Our heroes stories were shared on a weekly basis via email and social media channels. In addition to sharing their personal experiences, we highlighted how COVID impacted their hospitals, the populations they serve, how their departments pivoted to best serve both, and how enCourage Kids pivoted to help in that mission. It ran for 16 weeks and included a call for others to nominate their own healthcare heroes.
Videos of our Heroes experiences were produced based on Zoom interviews.
Visit the Honoring Healthcare Heroes website for the full experience.
The 2022 Gala posthumously honored an enCourage Kids board member who passed away – Jay Anderson. The event look was based on the location of the gala – Cipriani South Street. The herringbone background pattern represented the cobblestone streets of downtown NYC as well as the Guastavino tile found throughout the historic Battery Maritime Building. The iconic downtown skyline was also featured and highlighted the fact that Jay worked in the real estate industry.

When enCourage Kids Foundation's CEO, Michele Hall-Duncan, lost her courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer in June 2022, EKF lost a visionary leader and the child life community lost a fierce champion for the children and families they serve.
EKF established the Michele Hall-Duncan Humanizing Healthcare Award to honor her legacy. This annual award will spotlight the innovation and creativity of their hospital partners that inspired her every day and motivated her to work hard to develop new programs to support their work.
This video introduced the award at their 2023 Gala.
I also produced a new organizational video that was premiered at the 2023 Gala.
The 39th Anniversary Gala moved venues to the Ziegfeld Ballroom, so I embraced the art deco design elements found throughout the space for the event look.
