ACS Shines Spotlight on Albertville High School as School of the Month

Albertville High School was in the spotlight as February’s School of the Month. Principal Jordan Phillips presented a video that highlighted the opportunities and connections students have at AHS.

“What makes Albertville special is our kids. We have awesome kids, great teachers, and it’s a blessing to be here every day,” said Albertville High School Principal Jordan Phillips. “What’s great about Albertville is we have something for your child. It doesn’t matter what it is, we have all kinds of opportunities for our students, and it’s a testament to our teachers and our students."

State champion track star Amiah Murray, State FBLA Officer Nick Ramirez, and AHS Student Government President Sarah McCullars was also recognized by Phillips for attending Tuesday night’s meeting.

Celebrating #CTEMonth

In February, we celebrated CTE Month. This year, we have increased our career and technical education offerings at Albertville High School to 7 academies and 18 program pathways. Check out this video from our AggieVision students highlighting the academies and pathways!

Welcome to Albertville, Coach Browne

Bert Browne knows his way around both sides of the football, both as a player and a coach. Now, the extraordinary turnaround coach and one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Tennessee Tech football history, is the head football coach at Albertville High School. Browne, a native of Richmond, Ky., was approved by the Albertville Board of Education as the new head football coach of Albertville High School during a special called board meeting on Feb. 27.

The Amazing Shake

Congratulations to Brycen Hudgins for being selected as the 2023 Albertville Intermediate School Amazing Shake Winner! Brycen will now advance to the National Amazing Shake Competition at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia!

The Amazing Shake is an annual competition at AIS. It places an emphasis on teaching students manners, discipline, respect and professional conduct. Students learn proper handshakes, how to work a room, give a successful interview and how to remain composed under pressure. Be sure to check out some great photos from this week over on the AIS group - Albertville Intermediate School!

What started as a field of 92 students was narrowed down to three for this morning's finale. The top 3 students were Caleb Bouldin, Karsyn Ennis and Brycen Hudgins. Congratulations!

Coach Ron Polk

Ron Polk, the SEC baseball legend who led Mississippi State to great heights during his long career, was on campus Feb. 15 to speak to Aggie baseball players, their families and the community. Polk shared some of the lessons he has learned over the course of his life, including the significance of distractions and of surrounding yourself with the right people. Coach Polk, who currently serves as special assistant to the athletic director at Mississippi State, spoke for two hours and made a point to shake every player's hand on their way out.

Partners in Education Breakfast

On Feb. 10, Dr. English delivered the State of the System at the annual Albertville Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education Breakfast at Albertville First Baptist Church. It was great to visit with one another and hear about the exciting things happening at ACS. We also recognized our Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year - Mrs. Dianna Adams from Albertville Elementary School and Mrs. Annsonnetta Golden from Albertville High School.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Albertville Chamber for planning this event and to the Presenting and Spotlight Sponsors. We appreciate your support of Albertville City Schools.

Stepping Stones Event

We had a wonderful turnout for our first Stepping Stones event on Feb. 28. Couldn't make it? Check out their Facebook group for more information. Shoutout to the Accommodated Art Class at Albertville Intermediate School for the beautiful artwork!

What is Stepping Stones? Stepping Stones is an event designed for parents of exceptional students in the county, seventh grade and up, to learn about the importance of early planning for life after high school. Families were also able to learn about transition and community services available to them now.

APS Night of the Arts

What a wonderful crowd at Albertville Primary School's Night of the Arts on Feb. 28. Students were able to participate in art stations and presented a music program.
