Sean O. art 1 portfolio / winter 2021-2022 / strath haven h.s.

This Project was the Shattered Value Drawing in November. I think this is one of my favorite drawings and concepts. I learned how to blend colors and how to not smudge the paper during this process. While I was drawing this I wasn't sure if it would turn out how I wanted it, but I am happy with the results. I wish I would have used a board under this drawing because you can see the desk marks in the pencil lines. I incorporated my hand into this piece because we were learning about hand drawings just before this project.
This is a Warm/Cool colors watercolor painting. This painting was hard because I couldn't control where the watercolor went. I learned different strategies like leaving blank boxes around wet color until it drys so the colors don't mix.
This was my symmetry warm and cool colors painting. It was frustrating at the beginning of this process because I couldn't get the paint to come out how I had imagined. After many coats and different mixes of colors, I finally got on track. For this painting, I tried to match colors and make them opposites, for example, Red-Blue Orange-Green.
During this course, I learned lots of things but the main thing I take away is to trust the process and stay with it. Some skills I learned were Blending, Water Color, acrylic paint, Warm And cool colors, symmetry, color wheel, and lots more. I think coming out of this class I have a different perspective on art as I did before. My least favorite project I did during this course is the 5 Object Study one, I don't like it because it’s sloppy and I think I could've done a much better job on it. My favorite project is the Shatter Value drawing because I like the contrast between light and dark pencils.
