Frank Delos Wolfe Prairie Architecture

In 1912, San Jose architect Frank Wolfe designed the first of his Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Prairie homes. This style of architecture was new to California. Here are a few of them.

The first Prairie house Wolfe designed was for himself and wife Nellie in 1912. The style was immediately popular and many prominent locals followed.
This house built in 1912 for grocery wholesaler Peter Col and wife Blanche is one of Frank Wolfe's best-known works.
The Mary Burke house, built in 1913, is a store today.
David Rampe house, built in 1916.
This Prairie house was designed in 1921 for Sal and Frances Taormino.
1917 house designed for Elsie and Harry Preston.
1920 house built for Adolphe and Emile Oliver in Hayward.
1914 house in San Jose designed for and Ollie and Charles Mockbee
1914 house in Los Gatos for Lydia and J. Walter Crider.
1914 San Jose house designed for Olga and August Wendt.
Frank's brother, builder E.L. Wolfe and his wife Marie, lived in this 1913 house.
