SWERVE DRIVE: In the past few years on the team, we've been using a 6 wheel tank drive, better known in FRC as a West Coast Drivetrain. Other teams, especially in the past couple years, use what is called a swerve drive. A swerve drive moves in the way that a rolling desk chair would. The wheels can roll across the floor, but also rotate to move in another direction. With a swerve drivebase, both of these axes of motion are driven by motors to make one ultra maneuverable drivebase and robot. Team 1425 recently bought swerve modules (one corner of a square swerve drivebase) from a company called Swerve Drive Specialties, owned by an FRC mentor. We bought these modules to construct our very own robot with a swerve drivebase in an effort to explore mechanisms in FRC which are foreign to us as a team. We'll be working through much of the off season to build this robot. Once it's built, we will be competing at unofficial (for fun more than ranking) off season competitions. It takes a whole, cooperating team to make a robot, so come stop by and help out!

TEAM MOVIE NIGHT: The business team is planning a team bonding event -- an outdoor movie night! We will be meeting from 8:00-11:00pm at Ainsley Kennedy's (business team) house. We are meeting late to ensure we can see the movie on the outdoor projected screen. Everyone make sure to bring blankets, camping chairs, or anything else to sit on! The business team will prepare plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone. This event will be for students and alumni on the team only! We are hoping everyone can have a lot of fun, and there will be more events for mentors and family to attend in the near future. Address: 2911 SW Turner Rd, West Linn

CAREER EXPLORER CLASS PRESENTATION: Over the summer, we will be able to give a presentation to the summer Career Explorer Class. This class is for freshmen to explore different technical skills and career paths, and will be a perfect recruitment opportunity for us! We have a brief presentation and will give a tour of the shed. There will be three separate presentations for the different classes. If you are interested in helping out with the presentation, please email Katelyn (kmleblanc75@gmail.com) for more information.

CANS AND BOTTLES DONATIONS: Throughout the 2021-2022 season, please collect all of your cans and bottles for team 1425. The can donations provide funds to help pay for travel for students and mentors. Last year from cans and bottles alone, we made over $1200. Please continue to collect cans and bottles and drop them off at the Kassab's house (28911 SW Cascade Loop). Thanks for your help!
