Highs and Lows For TLD GasGas SSR at Round #7 at Riverglade MX Press Release

This past weekend marked round #7 of the Canadian Triple Crown Series hosted at Riverglade motocross in Moncton, New Brunswick. It was great to see the amazing east coast fans back at the races after two years without spectators. The team worked through the intense heat to produce some solid results. TLD GasGas SSR Premix and MX2 rider Sam Gaynor had a great day going 1-1 in Premix and 13-13 for 14th overall in MX2 on the MC125. MC250F rider Tyler Gibbs would unfortunately have a crash in moto 1 resulting in a fractured T4 and T12. We are happy to say that Tyler is ok and in good spirits. The #573 of Christopher Blackmer would dig deep to put in some solid results going 3-8 for 5th overall on the day.

Premix:

Moto 1:

Moto 1 would see the #28 of Sam Gaynor get off to a good 3rd place start. Sam would make some quick moves to put himself in 1st by the green flag. Lap after lap Gaynor would pull away from the rest of the pack crossing the checkers in 1st for moto 1.

Moto 2:

Gaynor would once again get off to a good start in moto 2 where he would battle with Jack Wright for the opening lap of the moto. On lap 2 he would make the pass and move into the lead. Sam would put his head down trying to pull a lead on the rest of the field. Gaynor and Wright would swap positions until Wright made a mistake and tipped over. Sam would capitalize on the mistake and move into P1 with a solid lead. He would ride out the rest of the moto in consistent fashion for another 1st place finish at the checkers.

Another great weekend for the #28 going 1-1 for 1st overall in the premix class.

MX2

Moto 1:

Tyler Gibbs

Moto 1 would see Tyler Gibbs get a good jump out of the gate and battle with the top 3. Unfortunately on the opening lap of the moto Tyler would go down battling for 3rd position. Gibbs would quickly pick himself back up and start charging towards the front. Gibbs would start picking off riders, making passes lap after lap. Tyler would move himself up to 13th as the halfway board came out. He would continue to charge looking to move up into the top 10. On lap 9 Tyler would unfortunately come together with Devyn Smith resulting in both riders going down. Tyler would stay down knowing that he had hurt himself and was unable to get back up. The medics would attend to the MC250F pilot who was feeling pain in his back after the rough crash. Gibbs would get taken to the hospital by ambulance to get checked out.

After a few hours at the hospital Tyler would inform the team he had fractured both his T4 and T12 in the crash. He would maintain a positive attitude and was released from the hospital a few hours later. At this moment we are unsure when Tyler will be back on the line; however we will be sure to inform everyone what his plans are moving forward for the rest of the Triple Crown Series. We wish Tyler the best of luck as he begins the healing process on his back.

Sam Gaynor:

TLD GasGas SSR MC125 pilot Sam Gaynor would get off to a good 13th place start. During the opening laps he would fall back to 16th position. Gaynor would push to make up a few more positions. Digging deep over the next few laps he would move up to 13th. Gaynor would ride out the rest of the moto to a 13th place finish.

Moto 2:

Sam Gaynor:

Moto 2 would see Gaynor get off to a 16th place start. By lap 3 he would move up to 13th. Riding very well on the MC125 against the 250 field, Gaynor would put in a very consistent moto and cross the checkers in 13th.

Sam Gaynor would go 13-13 for 14th overall on the day at Round #7.

MX1:

Leading up to round #7 Christopher Blackmer would take the time during the week to make sure he was race ready after the scary crash at Sand Del Lee. Blackmer would decide that he would tough it out and race round #7 at River Glade.

Moto 1

Moto 1 would see the #573 pull off a great holeshot against the field of 450 riders. On the opening lap, Tyler Medaglia would get by Chris putting him into P2. Keeping Medaglia in his sights, Blackmer would charge hard to stay with him for a couple laps. Battling hard, he would make a pass back on Medaglia at the beginning of lap 3. Laying down the fastest lap of the moto, Chris would push hard with Medaglia over the next 3 laps while maintaining 1st position. Coming from behind, Dylan Wright would make a pass on Blackmer putting him back into 2nd. Over the next 5 laps Chris would ride well to maintain 2nd. On lap 11 Medaglia would get by Blackmer pushing him back to 3rd. Chris would ride very well for the final laps of the moto to cross the checkers in 3rd.

Moto 2

Moto 2 would see Blackmer once again pull a great holeshot on the TLD GasGas SSR MC450F. Chris would lose some positions on the opening lap, putting him back to 5th. He would make a quick pass on Logan Leitzel for 4th. Halfway into the moto Chris would start to have some issues with his stomach resulting in him trying to push through being sick while racing. Doing what he could, Chris would end up losing 4 positions by the end of the moto to cross the checkers in 8th.

Chris would go 3-8 for 5th overall on the day. The team was very excited for Chris’s first ever pro moto podium, congratulations Chris!

The team is now on the way to Deschambault, QC for Round #8 of the Triple Crown Series. We are very excited to see the very passionate Quebec fans at the Deschambault MX facility. We would also like to extend a get well soon to Devyn Smith who is suffering from some injuries after coming together with Tyler Gibbs in Moto 1.
