Sports Days 2023

Uniform

Children will be practising for sports days in the weeks following half term. It would be greatly appreciated if children could wear leggings, joggers or shorts every day during this period (rather than just planned PE days) to enable us to take advantage of any good weather.

Please note all leggings, joggers or shorts should ideally be black and they should be suitable for school and PE. Please do not send children to school in brightly coloured, denim or extremely short, shorts.

Children should continue to wear their school polo shirts.

We advise that parents apply long lasting sun cream before school. There is an exception for those children going swimming. Please can parents of children in Years 4 & 5 provide a labelled bottle of sun cream that can remain in school for the three weeks they will be swimming.

We advise that children bring hats on sunny days too.

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle every day.

Attending Sports Days

Parents are welcome to remain on site after dropping off if attending morning Sports Days. We will bring the children out as soon as we are ready to start.

If you are attending afternoon Sports Days you will not be permitted on site until after the children have returned to class at lunch time. Gates will open 13:20.

We have taken the decision not to put out chairs for guests (there are a number of reasons for this – all logistical). However, you are very welcome to bring deck chairs / picnic rugs if you would like something to sit on.

When you're watching Sports Day, please do not walk across to the children who will be sat on the other side of the track to you. Also, please do not call them over - it's really important we keep everyone safe and accounted for and staff will be busy making sure the races run to plan. The children will go back to class after it finishes – sorry, it is not possible for us to safely facilitate them popping across to say hello.

If your child is going home after the sports day (Nursery or afternoon sports day), we will release them from their classroom doors – this would be a hand over, so if you have multiple children you’ll need to go to each door in turn.

If you are attending the Y3-6 Sports Day and you have a younger child in school, you will need to go to their classroom doors to collect them (please do not go to the office).

If your child is going home early with someone other than you, please make sure you let your child's teacher know.

Finally, if we have time we sometimes have a parents' race, so if you would like to take part, please make sure you're wearing trainers!
