Summary

The Murders in the Rue Morgue is about a murder in a street called The Rue Morgue, in which a old woman and her daughter were murdered for no apparent reason. The people in the neighborhood heard screams and ran inside up the one door that their was in the house, when the police came they searched the room and found that the daughter had been killed by giant hands and shoved up the chimney, and woman had her head nearly severed off and her body was in the backyard. All the windows were nailed down and the only door was crowded with people who had heard the screaming, yet no living person was in the room when the police broke down the door.

In The Murders in the Rue Morgue the narrator says "I considered it a very difficult problem — a mystery, to which it was not possible to find an answer" But they did not stop Searching for an answer, and they found it

Analysis

The first reason some things that seem impossible are possible is the theme of the story is that the narrator thinks that it is impossible to solve. In the story, he says "I considered it a very difficult problem — a mystery, to which it was not possible to find an answer". This quote means the narrator doesn't know how they are going to solve the mystery. This supports my theme because it means that it seems impossible.

Evedence #2

Four men who heard two voices all disagreed on what language one of the voices they heard was, the French man thought it was Spanish, the Spanish man thought it was English, the English man thought it was Italian, and the Italian man thought it was French.

ANALYSIS

The second reason some things that seem impossible are possible is the theme of the story is that there're was a voice that no one could agree on. In the story, it says that the French man thought it was Spanish, the Spanish man thought it was English, the Englishman thought it was Italian, and the Italian thought it was French. This means that there was no leads to go off of, they didn't know what the person sounded like. This supports my theme because it seems impossible to find someone who you don't know looks like or sounds like.

All of the windows were nailed down, there was only one door (which was being crowded by onlookers), the chimney was too skinny for a person to fit through, and the murderer was gone, which seems impossible, but they prove that it is possible

ANALYSIS

The third reason some things that seem impossible are possible is the theme of the story is that there was no way to get in or out of the building. In the story, the newspaper says "When they forced the door open they saw no one. The windows were closed and firmly locked on the inside. There are no steps that someone could have gone down while they were going up. They say that the openings over the fireplace are too small for anyone to have escaped through them". This means that there was no way to get out of the building, they didn't know how the person managed you get out. This supports my theme because it seems impossible to find someone who you don't know how they got out or where they went.

Conclusion

In conclusion I think that the theme is some things that seem impossible are possible because it seemed impossible to get out of the building, there was a voice from what seemed like a made up language, and even the narrator thought that it was an impossible mystery to solve.
