Health Workers Social Media Toolkit

Introduction

Health workers are the backbone of MOMENTUM’s work. Social media offers us the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to them and all that they do to promote the health of women and children.

This toolkit includes new country-specific messages highlighting MOMENTUM’s work as well as messages adapted from our International Year of Health and Care Workers toolkit, released in January 2021, and our International Day of the Midwife toolkit, released in May 2021. The WHO designated 2021 as the International Year of Health and Care Workers to recognize “the dedication and sacrifice of the millions of health and care workers at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic.” The occasion also marked the ten-year anniversary of the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel, which recognizes the global shortage of health workers and recognizes the need for increased recruitment, an issue that became even more urgent during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To achieve this, we must address barriers that midwives face in low- and middle-income countries, including lack of supplies, education, and visibility.
