Congratulations!
You're almost there. Graduation really is just around the corner. Since this is your first time being a senior, a guide might be helpful. Here is a heads up to responsibilities, activities and events that happen senior year.
Before School Starts
Back to School
- Parking Sticker: you've done this before, no big deal. Stickers are usually sold the week before school starts.
- Senior T-Shirt: the order form should be in the Back to School mailing. Get your order in early so you get your shirt for the Exeter Game!
- Senior Portraits: if you are going to a private photographer make your appointment before school starts. This gives you plenty of time to choose your portrait and make the yearbook deadline.
- Prom Pic: Send us your prom pictures so we have a good variety to choose from.
- Yearbook 2017: Order early and get your name on it at no extra charge. Order form will be in the Back-To-School mailing in August and on the website.
Trimester 1
Just Getting Started
- School Picture Day is Sept. 2 - get your photo taken for your ID and your official school photo. You can use this photo for your yearbook photo for free if you want. We will also do a senior class photo.
- Make sure your course schedule for the year has everything you need to graduate. Your guidance counselor will help you with this, just ask!
- Use Naviance for the college process. If you need teacher recommendations for colleges, ask teachers as soon as you can, at least two weeks before the due date.
- Start the year strong in all of your classes. Senior Privilege does not mean you can sign out when you have a class, that is a cut.
- Yearbook Deadlines: Senior Portraits and sketches are due Oct. 31; Parent Ads are due Nov. 25. Check the list outside room E-104
Go to the games, support your friends!
TRIMESTER 2
Go to assemblies, class meetings, read the announcements, participate in spirit week, check your email. Make an effort to hear the info the school is sending you and GET INVOLVED!
Get those college applications done! If you still need recommendations from teachers - get on it! Keep a list of the teachers that help you out so you can thank them later.
Scholarship posting will start to appear in the announcements and on the senior class page. Pay attention and find out early what scholarships you might qualify for and get applications started.
Finish Tri 2 with strong grades. Colleges look at your grades even after you have been accepted.
Cap and Gown Fittings - check the senior page for this important announcement.
Trimester 3
The Homestretch!
This is great, you've come this far and you will be done with your last trimester in no time at all. Don't let senioritis sink in. Go to your classes, do your work, enjoy your last weeks at Winnacunnet.
Graduation Announcements: a link to an order form will be on the senior page. Announcements are not invitations. You send announcements to your relatives to let them know them that you are completing an important milestone in your life - HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION!
Graduation Photos: The school's photographer, LifeTouch, will be at graduation snapping pictures of the graduates. If you (or your parents) would like to pre-order a photo package, there will be a link on the senior page.
Senior Week: What is senior week? Senior week is the week before graduation where seniors have other senior things to do besides classes. Classes will be over for seniors a week before graduation. Finals will also be done. Here are some of the activities/events that happen during senior week.
Senior Week Activities
- Graduation Practice: every day during senior week
- Senior Salute: Teachers honor seniors during a school assembly
- Scholarship Night: Scholarships are announced at an evening event, parents are invited.
- Senior Breakfast
- Senior Trip
- Senior Banquet
- Graduation
- Chem Free
Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and graduation will be outside - otherwise graduation will be in the gym. It will be awesome either way!
After Graduation?
Chem Free, parties, summer sun, jobs, college, military, saying goodbye to childhood and friends. Make it a great summer. Good Luck!
