Content Info For The Week

Math (Carver, Beasley, and Meeks):

Scholars will complete their systems unit study guide this week. They will test over systems on 3/31/22. PBIS is Friday.

No homework this week.

Algebra I (Meeks):

Scholars will begin factoring polynomial this week. We will look at factoring by GCF, difference of squares, and factoring trinomials. PBIS is Friday.

No homework this week.

Read 180 (Styron and Barker):

This week in R180 students will work to identify, describe, and demonstrate uses of figurative language in writing…simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, as well as uses for the 3 main types of irony...situational, dramatic, and verbal. Additionally, students will make correct inferences & generalizations based on readings, hone their standardized test taking skills with a variety of practice activities, and continue to complete personalized App segment and reading goals.

ELA (MacArthur and Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will be finishing up their class novel Hidden Figures. We will discuss the social and political shifts of the last few chapters, focusing on the Space Race and the Cold War. We will also be preparing to write our informational essay over a topic related to the time period.

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, we will finish the last chapter of our class novel Hidden Figures. Later this week, students will be watching parts of the movie to compare and contrast with the book. Additionally, students will begin the early stages of planning for their informational essay over the time period before we leave for the break.

9th Grade Lit (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their study of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. We will be focusing on characters' motivations through their actions, developing themes, and dramatic elements.

Science (Winkworth and Herndon):

This week students will develop the understanding of how much force is required to move an object. The purpose is for students to learn how the mass of an object affects the amount of force required to change its motion. Students will employ the concept of inertia to determine the force required to move an object and how the object's mass affects its ability to not move.

Social Studies (MacArthur and Collier):

The Georgia studies classes will be continuing their look at the structure and function of the state government, especially that of the legislative branch. We will take a test over the first half of the Government unit on Friday!

Look what we have been up to!
