Creative Debuts at D&AD with Microsoft A D&AD house Party featuring the Surface Book 2

D&AD's first-ever house party was hosted on 30th November with Microsoft to premier the Surface Book 2, a new powerhouse device for creatives. We gathered 160 young creatives for drinks, doodles, dancing, and a live illustration battle.

Training Day

Four illustrators trained with a Microsoft Surface evangelist to learn Illustrator, Photoshop, and Sketchable systems on the Surface Book and Surface Pro.

Artists were loaned a Surface device to get to know for ten days prior to the battle. They each created artwork that would be applied to a bomber jacket (or battle uniform) worn at the live event.

House Party

160 young creatives attended with an open-mind

The atmosphere was created with a retro photo booth, Brewdog behind the bar, DJ Hutch on the decks, and MC Ellen on the mic.

Doodle tables dotted the room with pens, paper, and a suite of Surface devices available for creative exploration. Guests had the option to send their Surface doodles to the Canon station for prints to take away.

Live Battle

Three rounds of live illustration battle on the Surface Book 2 engaged the audience and created a spectacle.

MC Ellen hosted the main event inviting the audience to call out additions to the competition brief and ultimately determine a winner.
