Tech After Lunch
In our next edition of Tech After Lunch we will be focusing on creating flyers, tri-folds, and web graphics all using Canva. The session will be lead by our own Faith St-John. Faith is not only the director at Argyle but a Graphic Designer! Faith recognized the ease of use and thought other libraries that don't have a graphic designer on staff might benefit from a workshop. Here is an example of Argyle's Summer Reading Tri-Fold built using Canva: https://www.canva.com/design/DAE7nuzgLJ8/H4Yp01CvTTz5i49N-XPmWg/view?utm_content=DAE7nuzgLJ8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton
In this workshop, we will give a tour of Canva, show how it works, and how to use it. Then we will dive in and create some flyers. During the practice portion, you'll be able to ask for assistance, get help troubleshooting, cure any hiccups, and gain some experience using Canva.

LEGO Foundation's "Build A World Of Play" campaign
The campaign website and #BuildAWorldOfPlay platform will launch on May 10! The second workshop for the library community will take place a week later on May 17, where we will discuss how to use the materials from the website.
Workshop #2 for public libraries will take place on May 17, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the rich content of the platform. Note: It is not a prerequisite to have participated in the first workshop, so If you haven’t already registered for workshop #2, you can do it here.

Decoding the Mysteries of Cats
This program was passed along to me:
Just a quick recommendation for a great program we hosted yesterday with Cat Behaviorist Stephen Quandt, Decoding the Mysteries of Cats. https://www.cat-behavior-help.com/ His direct email is: stephen@cat-behavior-help.com
We held it as a hybrid program, with 15 people in the library and another 15 on Zoom. Stephen was on Zoom, and both groups were fully engaged with both his half hour presentation and the 30+ minutes of Q & A that followed.
He was also a very organized speaker -- sending event info, photos, invoice, etc. in a timely manner without needing reminders!
It was very appealing to a multi-age audience -- not the heavy topic programming we often have for adults -- and it was nice to offer something totally different.
