Week 1 Term 3a

At the end of last term we were very excited to walk to our local Roman Temple. The artist impression looked very different to what we expected! We drew as many features as we could ready for our detailed drawings in class.

To start our new Geography topic we were given a picture to describe to the class. We soon realised all our pictures had a river in them. We thought the rivers were from different places around the world as some were showing desert, some farming land, some cities and some pollution.

We were shocked to realised they were all pictures of one river, the river Nile! We looked at an atlas to find out more about the river Nile. We looked to find where in the world it was and then looked for it’s source, it’s mouth and which sea it ran into.

There was a lot more we wanted to know about the river so we used the Ipads to get more facts and figures. We couldn’t believe how long it was and how many countries it travelled through!

We were really excited to meet Rachel and Ted from The Dog’s Trust this week. We learnt how to ask if we could stroke a dog and when to approach a dog or leave it alone.

We loved starting our DT and computing project with Lego this week. We worked brilliantly in our groups to create a robot that would launch out boat into the water. We then coded the robot to push it in. We showed brilliant resilience and problem solving to ensure we got it working properly. Fantastic Year 4! 🌟

In Science we started to learn about the water cycle. There were some tricky words to learn and understand, so we used a song and some actions to help us remember them.

We then set up an experiment on our window to see if we could see the water cycle happening. All the children were very excited to see it had worked the next morning.

Congratulations to our Star of the Week and Golden Book superstars! Thank you also to the birthday boy for the delicious cake! 🌟
