Pear Harbor - Dec. 7, 1941 | 7:48 AM - 9:45 AM

The attack on Pearl Harbor happened because the Japanese wanted to destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet so it could not stop the Japanese expansion through the South Pacific. Japan also hoped to shatter the morale of the United States to prevent it from entering World War II.

Coral Sea - May 4-8, 1942 | 4 Days

The Battle of the Coral Sea was the first major naval conflict in history with the majority of the fighting in the air and the strength of both sides revolving around their carriers.

Midway - June 3-7, 1942 | 4 Days

The Battle of Midway, which was a victory for the U.S. Navy, was important because it was effectively the turning point of World War II in the Pacific. Prior to the Battle of Midway, the Japanese had not lost a sea battle fought on the Pacific or Indian Ocean, they held a significant military advantage, in part because they possessed the strongest air carrier unit in the Pacific.

The Battle of Buna Gona was a World War II battle which took place during the the New Guinea campaign, in the Pacific Theater of Operation. It was fought between Allied forces and Japanese troops at Buna, Sanananda and Gona, on the island of New Guinea, from November 16, 1942 to January 22, 1943.

Guadalcanal - Aug. 7, 1942 - Feb. 9, 1943 | 6 Months & 2 Days

Guadalcanal was a major turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II. Japan had a large stronghold in the Pacific, and were increasing their strength.

Bougainville - Nov. 1943 - Nov. 1944

The Bougainville Campaign was a series of naval and land battles.

The Aleutian Islands campaign was a struggle over the Aleutian Islands, part of Alaska territory. In the American theater and the pacific theater of World War II starting on June 3, 1942, a small Japanese force occupied the islands of Attu and Kiska.

Iwo Jima - Feb. 19 - March 26, 1945

The battle of Iwo Jima was one of the bloodiest war in World War II. The Japanese had heavy fortifications on the island, but the Americans won the battle.

Okinawa - April 1 - June 22, 1945

The battle of Okinawa was a series of battles fought in the Ryukyu islands where the Americans planned to put a base so they could invade Japan.
