Dear DAVIANS,
Greetings of the day!
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.
I am proud of all my students creativity for and parents who supported the young bright minds to come together to celebrate Environment Day by participating in various activities.
It is crucial that we reflect on the significance of the occasion and understand the immense responsibility we bear towards our planet.
Our environment is the very foundation of our existence. However, it is saddening to witness the escalating challenges our environment faces due to our own actions.
Your mentors have always encouraged you to cultivate habits that can contribute to the protection and preservation of our environment. Always remember, one person taking hundred steps will take a long time rather hundred people taking one step together to transform our Mother Earth for better. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:
1. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: The first step is to minimize our consumption of single-use plastics. By opting for reusable alternatives such as cloth bags, water bottles, and food containers, we can significantly decrease our plastic footprint.
2. Spread Awareness: We must educate ourselves and others about the harmful effects of plastic on our environment and inspire action. By sharing information, organizing community events, we can build a collective understanding and commitment to change.
3. Support Sustainable Initiatives: As consumers, we have the power to drive change through our purchasing choices. Support businesses that prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly practices. By demanding sustainable alternatives, we can influence industries to reduce their plastic use.
4. Advocate for Policy Changes: We must urge our policymakers to implement strict regulations on single-use plastics, promote recycling infrastructure, and support innovative solutions.
5. Foster Innovation: Embrace and support innovation that tackles plastic pollution. "Be VOCAL for LOCAL”
I sincerely hope that you will wonderful contributions to society as excellent citizens!

World Environment Day-2023
#Beat The Plastic Pollution
World Environment Day 2023 will focus on beating plastic pollution and will spotlight solutions to plastic pollution. The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day and this year, the host is Côte d’Ivoire, in partnership with the Netherlands. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) annually organizes events for World Environment Day, which encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment. It is celebrated on 5 June in over 100 countries.
Marine fisheries contribute to plastic pollution primarily through the abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear, such as nets, lines, ropes, and traps used to catch 2-3 trillion fish and other aquatic animals each year.
Ghost gear can subsist for hundreds of years, continuously harming animals, our shared habitats, coastal communities’ livelihoods, and our health.
To prevent further harm to the environment, animals, livelihoods, and food safety and security, several measures combatting ghost gear should be implemented, including mandatory marking of fishing gear.
