Sherwood Island Breast Cancer Walk comforts community All photos by Julia leitner '23

On Sunday, Oct. 16, the annual breast cancer awareness walk took place at Sherwood Island state park, where many people came to show their support and raise awareness for the cause.
There was a wide variety of people that came to support the cause, including the Yale Police Department in their famous pink car.
People came dressed to impress in their all pink attire, including Kat Eggart, Owner of the Spot at Just Dance Studios in Norwalk, who is shown above.
Performers from The Spot at Just Dance Studios in Norwalk performed a hip hop dance with students ranging from ages 7-17, before the cutting of the ribbon and the beginning of the 5k walk.
Many different businesses sponsored the event, including the fan favorite Granola Bar truck, that gave out coffees and hot chocolates.
The event was extremely successful, with several different stands and organizations set up all over the park.
The American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has put up this event 28 years in Westport.
