Center Street Pedestrian Alley Conceptual Design

We are proposing to transform a section of Center Street between North Washington and Adams Avenue into a pedestrian friendly parklet-style area. This section of the under-utilized alley would be closed off with removable bollards to limit vehicle access to authorized personnel. This would allow the space to be filled with furniture, planters and even some food stands. This would augment the already popular destination café Adezzo, and draw even more people to the area. With the addition of a mural, planters, lights, chairs and tables, the space would be transformed into a place for people to meet, hang out, and get refreshments. The mural, lights, and furniture add a human scale to the otherwise drab alley. Drawing people into the space to hang out will boost traffic for the local businesses and provide a sense of place for people in an area dominated by vehicular traffic.
