WKHS Gymnastics Senior Night Angelica Setiawan

The Girls Gymnastics team had Senior night on February 15th for Reagan Leo. Leo has been doing gymnastics for four years and is now the only senior on the team. Leo states, "Being the only senior, I do feel like I have a lot of responsibility leading the team but luckily having Brooke by my side has helped me tremendously."

Pictured at left is Reagan Leo, the sole gymnast featured at senior night.

Leo is a two-sport athlete participating in both cheerleading and has been a varsity competitor for gymnastics for three years. She has received numerous awards and has placed in countless meets throughout the years. "We just need to be thankful for our opportunities to perform. I think it could be really hard to appreciate being in the lineup during meets because of the stress that comes with it, but maintaining a positive outlook at meets is so important," Leo says.

Brooke Carter, a junior on the gymnastics team, has been competing with Reagan for three years; Brooke is also the only junior on the team and has been co-organizing senior night at Worthington Kilbourne High School. Brooke and Reagan have become quite close over the years, "I am honored to be co-organizing Reagan's senior night because she has always been there to help me through my high school career. I am going to miss her a lot, she has been a great friend, inspiration, and teammate throughout our time together, but I wish her the best for the future." Brooke says.

Reagan is not the only Leo in her family, her sister, Trinity, also did gymnastics at Kilbourne. She was a positive influence on Reagan throughout her high school career and was able to attend Reagan's senior night. "I've always looked up to my sister in the gym. Her growth from freshman year to senior year was incredible and I've always strived to impress her and make her proud. Even after she left, it was really important to me to make her proud at meets she comes to. At senior night I feel like I got the closure of impressing her when I finished performing on floor. After my routine, she came up to me and told me she started crying because of how proud she was of me and it felt like I could leave the sport feeling fulfilled with myself and how I've done." Reagan states.

The team also made special shirts for senior night, with inside jokes on the back, this is a great creative twist to honor their senior. Picture above are the gymnast wearing shirts they made especially for senior night.

The team has been extremely close and Naomi Hoover, a freshman on the team, said, "It's like a big family, and we get to make personal connections with people because our team is so small. Our team also has a tradition of big sis and little sis, Reagan was my big, and was a great big sis and role model for me throughout the season. I'm really happy that senior night was a success for her, and I am going to miss her a lot but we will always have a special place in our heart for Reagan." Reagan has been a great role model for the freshman, sophomores, and even juniors, although seeing her leave Kilbourne is sad, the girls are happy and excited to see what her future has in store for this wonderful person.
