The Cardinals return 97 percent of their scoring and 90 percent of their rebounds from a year ago when they advanced to the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Men’s Basketball Championship for the first time in three years. Led by the D3hoops.com Atlantic/Mid-Atlantic Region and Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year Jesse Hafemeister, Catholic returns three all-conference selections, including sophomores Colby Martins and Tommy Kelly. With the addition of five more talented newcomers, the Cardinals look to take the next step in returning to the top of the Landmark Conference under third-year head coach Aaron Kelly.
After claiming the first Landmark Conference title in team history last season, the Drew University men's basketball team will look to defend its crown with an experienced cast under 14th-year Head Coach Darryl Keckler. The Rangers bring back a trio of First-Team All-Landmark Conference performers in senior Lybrant Robinson, senior David Gervase, and junior Howard McBurnie, Jr.
Robinson was named the MVP of last year's Landmark Conference Championships after netting 31 points in the final, in which he also hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. He finished the season leading the team with 15.2 points per game. Gervase was Drew's third-leading scorer last year, posting 13.3 points per game and led the squad with 14 3-pointers made. McBurnie led the team and the Landmark Conference in rebounding with 11.6 boards per game while also dropping 12.4 points per night.
Sophomore point guard Malcolm Newman is also set to return after scoring 14.6 points per game during his freshman campaign while senior Malachi Walker, Jr., a two-time defending Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Drew's career blocked shots leader, will return for the second semester. An additional 11 Rangers are back to provide outstanding depth for the Blue and Green.
The Elizabethtown College men’s basketball team returns to the court for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Including sophomores, head coach Britt Moore brings in 11 new faces to join his five returners. Junior Jalin Robinson highlights the veterans, appearing in 20 games as a freshman, averaging 15.2 minutes and 5.5 points per game, while shooting .368 from three. The Blue Jays open the season at home against Penn State Berks on November 9 at 7 p.m.
The Goucher men’s basketball team returns nine players from the 2019-20 season, including four seniors in Cam Isaacs, Angad Ahluwalia, Justin Salisbury, and Nieko White. Isaacs started all but one game as a sophomore and averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Junior Ryan Conde averaged 7.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in nine games after joining the Gophers in the second semester two years ago. Josh Lichti started all 25 games as a freshman and added 5.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per outing.
The Juniata men’s basketball team returns 15 players from the previous season, led by seniors Jamel Foster, John Kelly and Griffin LaCarte. Also returning is Chase Husted, who was named Landmark All-Conference Second Team last season. He was second on the team in scoring and first in rebounds last season. Sophomore guard Kyle Ruggery led the squad in assists, while fellow sophomore Evan Eisenhart was third in scoring. They will open the season on November 13th at home against Penn St. Altoona. Tipoff is at 2:00.
Interim Head Coach Mike Frew has eight returning players to lead his squad of 18 student-athletes into the 2021-22 campaign. Sophomore guard Alex Dietz is the top returning scorer from last winter's abbreviated season at 6.1 points per game while junior guard Nate Dougherty is the top returner on the boards at 3.4 rebounds per contest. The Greyhounds play five games in November and a total of 11 contests before the calendar rolls to 2022 including an exhibition at NCAA Division I The University of Delaware on December 10.
For The University of Scranton men’s basketball team, the returners are highlighted by senior Jackson Danzig who earned All-Landmark First Team honors a season ago after scoring 13.2 points per game and shooting 54.6% from the floor, which ranked second in the conference. Other returning starters for the Landmark Conference runner-up Royals are junior guard Stephen Braunstein who averaged 10.7 points and shot 40.4% from the floor last season and senior forward Ryan Ems. Ems started all 10 games last year for the Royals and recorded 9.9 points per game to go along with 7.0 rebounds per game. Reigning Landmark Conference Coach of the Year Carl Danzig returns for his 21st season on the sidelines.
The Susquehanna University men’s basketball team comes into the 2021-22 season ready to recapture the magic of the 2019-2020 season that saw the River Hawks earn the Landmark Conference title. This season looks to be another special one due to the returns of All-Landmark Conference guards in Danny Frauenheim and Lukas Yurasits. Yurasits was named as the Landmark Conference Championships MVP in 2020, earning Second Team accolades, while Frauenheim was a First Team honoree.
The squad boasts three of its top four scorers from the Round of 32 teams in 2019-20 that went 21-8, including Dominic Dunn along with Yurasits and Frauenheim. Key reserves Jay Martin and Thomas Sampson are back, as are bigs Wes Simons and Jack Van Syckle to boost the play down low. Head coach Frank Marcinek returns to the sidelines for his 32nd season with Susquehanna, coming into the year with 454 career victories.
