The Eurasian Ruffe, is a freshwater fish found in temperate regions of Europe and Northern Asia. Its orginally from fresh and brackfish waters.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AN EURASIAN RUFFE:
General Characteristics: Very slimy when handled, Usually less then 6 inches ( 15 cm long) Perch-like body shape. Structural Characteristics: Its olive brown to golden brown on its back, and paler on the sides with yellowish undersides. Behavioral Characteristics: They swim really fast from predators. They can damage other fish.

The Eurasian Ruffe's natural habitat is underwater. It lives underwater Northern Europe and Asia. The Ruffe came to lake Superior probably in the ballast water of a transoceanic ship in 1985.

This fish was first discovered in Western Lake Superior in 1986, Ruffe populations have rapidly increased in st. Louis River at Duluth- superior and spread to other rivers and bays along the south shore of Western Lake Superior. So the Eurasian Ruffe was spreading to rivers, lakes and habitats they are not welcomed.
