Being a sibling of a special needs child is an incredibly difficult status to occupy; one that very few people (bar other siblings of the disabled) rarely understand. This is the story of my journey from anger to advocacy.

The stigma, stereotypes, and poor treatment she endured were understandable unbearable. But what many don't realize is that siblings of special needs students experience stigma, stereotypes, and poor treatment of their own that usually goes overlooked by family, teachers, friends, and especially society.

There are a great deal of children in the U.S. with special needs (see the graph below) and a great deal of services.

But what services are available for siblings? Not a whole lot....
