Principal's Message

Lake Pleasant Families,

This week is an important one as we have a chance to come together after 9 weeks of learning to discuss the progress of our students. Teachers now have a deep understanding of how your child learns and matched up with you their "first teacher" can begin a powerful relationship that can really accelerate the learning of your child. These conversations and relationships are crucial in order for parents to have an idea of areas of strengths and challenges for their child. We have many skills we need to cover throughout the year and parents can certainly support our teachers in various skills that may be missing which could cause future gaps. Parents can also help with supporting student strengths as well to keep that student motivation burning strong. Once we target these areas, work together to grow them, our kids will feel successful again and the learning can really take off!

I plan on dropping by a few of these conversations and I am looking forward to hearing about your child's learning and building this solid partnership.

Enjoy the short week and time discussing your child as we springboard into the second quarter!

Have a great week Silverhawks,

Aaron Bagwell

NEWS FROM STUDENT COUNCIL

Below is a picture of our student council members in front of some new playground equipment. Student council’s gift last year was two new toss up structures for our playgrounds. There is one on the Kindergarten playground and on the 1st through 4th grade playground. They were just installed!

REQUEST FROM OUR HARD WORKING PE DEPARTMENT

The PE department is looking for any gentle used PE equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, kickballs, rubber balls, footballs, jump ropes, cones, poly spots, pool noodles, backyard games……) laying around your garage that you no longer use. This equipment will be utilized during recess time to help keep our students active! We will have a blue cart out front next week for you to place the equipment in. We greatly appreciate your donation!

SLURRY SEAL BEGINS OCTOBER 17

Please take a moment to review the following information from the City of Peoria regarding future Slurry Seal activity:

The City of Peoria and its contractor, ViaSun Corporation, are scheduled to apply a slurry seal asphalt surface treatment within the next few weeks to residential City streets in Vistancia Village G, from Lone Mountain to the Canal and from Vistancia Boulevard to the west end of Lone Mountain. This work does NOT include Westland Road in front of the school.

While Lake Pleasant should not be directly impacted by the work, we wanted to connect with staff and families ensure everyone is aware since parents might stage for pick up on the residential streets south of the school in the areas that aren’t gated. During the slurry seal application, on-street parking will be restricted, and No Parking signs will be placed in advance of the work so that may impact some parents. Additionally, vehicles left on the street may be towed.

As it’s currently scheduled, this work is expected to begin in the area the week of October 17; however, it is not uncommon for the dates to shift a bit based on the progress the contractor makes in the area in which they are currently working, weather conditions and resource availability issues. Project information and reminders are available at www.PeoriaAZ.gov/streetmaintenance.
