On Friday, we drew all over the carpet with chalk as we decided to create our own city state. We placed it on an island half way between Sparta and Athens. In science, we made use of the green screen a short light assessment. We held different types of paper and plastic and children had to guess what was making the shadow. Some were easier than others - the transparent plastic sheet for example.

We looked back at some of our learning in history to see if we could create a learning organiser. We tried to categorise our ideas into the themes of empire, innovation, community and migration. Very quickly, we realised that this was an awful lot to do so we split up into table groups and shared our ideas around a single theme. Our teacher heroically decided to then type this up for us…
