Eighth Grade CTE Event
On January 31st the 8th graders from the neighboring school, Rancho Viejo Middle School, visited the Tahquitz campus. They visited the CTE classes which include, Digital Media, Construction, and Entrepreneurship. They walked through and learned about what each class had to offer. They were able to take pictures in our Titan Pop photo booth built by the Tahquitz Construction class.

Level two students will begin assessing upper extremity injuries that involve the head. Focusing on concussions specifically the controversy around the NFL (football) involvement with the increase of head injuries in sports.
Carpentry
Carpentry is currently doing a Night with Industry with tomorrows talent. The students are training, creating resumes, and going to in person presentations. On the 15th of February they will be doing a dry run and on the 16th they are going to Local 951 and applying for work with different contractors. The students will be giving a presentation, they will also give their resumes they have created, and their business cards. The construction crew that is working for the Design Build Competition got a sponsor. They are hoping that the sponsor will come in and give a presentation about drywall to the class.
Entrepreneurship
In the next week Mr. Wells students will be working on makeup work since the end of the triad is quickly coming up. Level one students will be starting to learn about product development. While in the level two classes they are starting to look at investments. They have also started to work on SkillsUSA.
Alex Flores
Alex is a student who has made a concerted effort to improve his skill set in all aspects of digital media. Alex has continually improved his photographic aesthetic, and is quickly becoming a skilled video editor. Alex's passion to continually improve at his craft was why they were selected as a CTE spotlight student.
Andre Barrera
Andre has taken Construction for the past 3 1/2 years. He lost half a year because he had to go Allesandro, but while he was there he took a welding class. He passed the class and got a welding certification and Osha 10. He is on the Design Build Competition team. Andre is also a general foreman for all three level two classes. This means he is above all the foreman. There is only two people above him. Andre said that Mr. Scott is his mentor, he is trying to follow in his footsteps. He was also responsible for the president of the Union, Pete Rodriguez, to come to the class last year. Andre recommends the class to students who are starting high school and anyone who wants to learn how to build things with their hands. Construction is very hands on and has little book work.
