Fun with Friends Nursery, sUMMER tERM, wEEK 5

We've had an amazing week. Summer term really is the best. The children have had lots of high quality play together outside. Mr Walker has been leading team games and Mrs Finlay has been talking with nursery, whilst helping to develop fine motor skills. We love to visit the big play area too, to stretch our larger muscles and build our strength.

Space to play with friends.

Forest school was a little wet but that just made the mud all the more fun. We explored deeper into the woods this week.

Feeling small among the tall trees.

Our beans and peas we planted a few weeks ago are shooting up. It's been very interesting watching how they grow. There have been lots of questions about the 'white wiggly things', also known as the roots.

Observation of growth.

Our observation of nature has led us to try some leaf rubbings in the creative zone with Miss Watson.

Trung different techniques to reveal the patterns on leaves and other textured objects.

Last week we learned about keeping ourselves healthy and focussed on healthy eating. This week we have extended our understanding by looking at oral hygiene.

Looking at what happens if we eat too much sugar and don't brush our teeth.
Looking closely at how front teeth and back teeth are different, and why we must make sure we clean all of them.
Practising brushing using a circular motion.

Our maths focus of the week has been exploring 2D shapes. We can name them and we are beginning to explore simple shape properties such as 'corners' and 'straight sides'.

Playing and talking about shapes.
Lots of squares.
Naming shapes.

Our letter formation is coming on beautifully and we are trying hard to write our names.

We had some visitors from Year 5 come in to help us with our learning. They were so kind and considerate. I think we have some new friendships developing. We would love to have them back again.

Year 5 supporting us with our reading and writing.

It has been a lovely week all round. The weather is becoming quite warm (finally!) so it might be wise to apply suncream to your child in the morning if the forecast is good. Keep an eye on class dojo for further info.
