Lute Men's Tennis vs. Puget Sound 2021-2022 Pacific Lutheran University Men's Tennis Digital Match Program

Setting the Scene: After a week off, the Lutes are back on the courts at the Sprinker Recreation Center, hosting crosstown rival University of Puget Sound.

About the Lutes: Pacific Lutheran (3-4, 1-3 NWC) netted its first win in league play on March 19, rolling Linfield University 7-2.

The Lutes set the tone early, winning two of the three doubles matches. Michael Campbell and Hampus Pers Eliasson edged out an 8-6 win at the No. 1 position while Derek Stone and Caleb Grass prevailed 8-6 at No. 2.

In singles, Pers Eliasson breezed to the, 6-1, 6-1, win at the NO. 2 position while Stone collected them 6-3, 7-6, decision at No. 3. Grass outlasted Cody Pickar at No. 4, winning, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10), while Alex Richter (6-2, 6-2) was victorious at No. 5. Samuel Kwon took his match at No. 6, winning, 6-2, 6-2.

Pers Eliasson's efforts earned him NWC Player of the Week accolades on March 22, the second time in his career he's won the honor.

About the Loggers: Puget Sound (1-4, 1-2 NWC) snapped a four-match skid on March 20, edging Linfield 5-4. The Loggers won two of the three doubles matches to set the tone in the dual win and earned singles wins at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 to cement the victory.

This will be the second time this season the Lutes and Loggers will meet on the courts with PLU prevailing 6-3 back on Feb. 12 at the UPS Tennis Pavilion.

It was a match the Loggers won two of the three doubles matches before the Lutes won No. 1 through No. 4 singles en route to the win.

Trent Beckman has been the Loggers' No. 1 singles player this spring while teaming up with Noah Henderson at No. 1 doubles.
