Mission Updates November, 2022

His Safe Haven (HSH) serves children with special needs in Northern Liberia, an area plagued by witchcraft and a culture that considers children born with disabilities to be cursed. Please stop by the Life Center this weekend (11/12 & 13) to meet HSH representatives Jim & Cyndi Curran and learn more about this amazing ministry!

Praises & Prayers:

  • The Missionary Director in Liberia, Don Riley, recently suffered a stroke and had to be emergency evacuated to London. Please pray for him to be able to return to the US for rehab and recovery, and especially that his adopted Liberian children will be able to get US visas to join Don and his wife.

From November to January they are going on a multi-national tour visiting churches and preaching in Australia, the USA, and Colombia. Calvary Worship Center is excited to welcome them at our own home base on November 26 & 27 as they come to visit. Come on down to meet them at the Life Center between services!

Carlos & Yolanda Casco

Carlos and Yolanda Casco have been in Central and South America doing seminars and Bible studies for pastors and leaders, pastoring a local church, and sharing live services on social media. Recently Carlos started discipling three gentlemen from their congregation and these men are already sharing the gospel at three drug rehabilitation centers. For months Carlos has done an online Bible series for groups in Columbia and Peru and now groups in Bolivia and El Salvador have scheduled classes for next year.

  • Praise God for the celebration of Carlos's 80th birthday on November 5th and his 38th spiritual rebirth on November 7th. Pray for his continued strength in ministry for the Lord and thank God for his improved health as he routinely diets and exercises.
  • Pray that God may grant his prayer request that at 85 years old God will give him his mountain as he did for Caleb. (Joshua 14:12)
  • Pray for Yolanda as she prepares teachings and activities for children in Sunday school and for the Women's Bible Study Fellowship.

Life Equip Global

Life Equip Global works across the globe to train up pastors and Christian leaders to help women in crisis pregnancies with pro-life support resources.

  • Praise God for sending help to Mercy and Joan who were in extremely desperate situations.
  • Pray for 14-year-old Joan who was ostracized by her family for being pregnant despite her plea of forced assault at the market. Praise God for connecting her with a Ugandan church leader who had gone through the Life Equip Global training and knew how to meet her needs. Pray for her continued support as she is in her third trimester and for her family's change of heart in Jesus' name.
  • Pray for more US-based Life Advocate Trainers.
  • Pray that they can start preparing leaders in Africa, South America, India, and Asia to start offering Life Advocate Training.

Michael Parks - Middle East

Praise God for Michael Parks and the recent pastors' conferences in Kurdistan, Iraq & Lebanon where they were able to bless nearly 200 pastors/leaders and their families. Praise God for beautiful times of prayer, intense worship, laughter, and sharing meals and encouragement. Please pray for these pastors and their families as they return home to very difficult areas of ministry.

Janice Evans is our missionary friend who left her long-term ministry in Ukraine to minister to Ukrainian refugees in Hungary. Janice is currently living in Ukraine again until January due to visa needs. She then plans to return to Hungary to host Ukrainian refugees who were displaced. In the meantime, Janice is involved in an outreach that cuts material to hand-weave over 300 camouflage nets for tanks. As she assists the local townspeople, she finds many opportunities to share God's love and encouragement.

Praises & Prayer Requests:

  • Praise God for the Hungarian Christian lady who converted a 3-floor house into 3 apartments and wants to rent primarily to displaced people.
  • Pray for heat during this winter as many apartments had their pipes and heaters taken when people evacuated and the centralized heating systems have been further damaged by Russian attacks.
  • Praise God that despite the discomforts, Janice is content in all situations and enjoys her opportunities as life changes so fast.
  • Pray for Janice's sensitivity to the Holy Spirit to decide where to allocate investments like dried foods, medical supplies, and clothes for soldiers and repairing roofs and windows for homes prior to the onset of the snowy season.
  • Pray for peace and no negative talk between the Ukrainians about Russian people who are not affiliated in the war except by the location of their birth and citizenship. Pray for a softness of heart towards people on both sides in the midst of hard times.

Augustin Tharsis continues to minister in Paris, France, through friendship and street evangelism & church-planting outreaches.

  • Pray that God will help Augustin to better manage his time, health and the ministry. For him to walk boldly and with the Holy Spirit's power to witness more effectively.
  • Pray for Ramza to connect with Jesus personally and to want to know more about Jesus and faith.
  • Pray for fellowship time with Areski in order to read the Bible and pray regularly.
  • Praise God for moving among two people in particular, one is an atheist who stayed with them in church and is enjoying their companionship, the other is a man who is interested in the Bible and knowing more about Jesus.
Nairobi, Kenya

Praise God for His continued faithfulness to Hope's Promise Sanctuary of Hope in Nairobi, Kenya.

Please continue praying for S., one of the orphaned teens from Mathare Valley Slum who was raised by Pastor & Mama Karau. S. was swept up in the school arsons and violence after COVID lockdowns, and has been waiting for his case to be heard in court for a year. They have made about 12 trips to court - an 8-hour round trip, then waiting all day in court, only to have it postponed and rescheduled each time. Court was now postponed until January 11th. In the meantime, S. has been able to continue his education, thanks to the advocacy of Mama Karau. However, this is a heavy load to have hanging over his head and his future. Please pray that God will use it in S.'s life to draw him closer to God.

Harris - Uganda

Matt and Noel Harris serve in a Pastoral Training School in Uganda and are very community & family-oriented.

Praise & Prayer:

  • Praise God that Matt & Noelle celebrated 13 years of friendship and their 9th wedding anniversary recently. They had a candlelight dinner and shared their relationship story with their children - how they prayed about their future, sought the Lord, had direct callings that aligned, and an equal yoke.
  • Praise God for 9 years of peaceful marriage and 5 children. Also that Noelle's mother and 3 nieces and a friend are visiting Matt & Noelle in Uganda.
  • Praise God for the progress of the Pastoral Training School, both in the students and the new site construction.
Starting Over on the Inside

Praise God for the ministry of Starting Over on the Inside workshops inside Colorado prisons! They have graduated almost 100 students since March, have a waiting list for facilities requesting the program, and continue to bless those leaving incarceration with aftercare assistance (housing, employment options, cell phones, etc.). Please pray that they will have the staff & volunteers needed to offer the program in every Colorado facility!
