The Virgin Islands National Park is an American national park preserving about 60% of the land area of Saint John in the United States Virgin Islands, as well as more than 5,500 acres (2,226 ha; 9 sq mi) of adjacent ocean, and nearly all of Hassel Island, just off the Charlotte Amalie, Saint Thomas harbor.

2017 & 2021 Grand Teton National Park

In 2021 the visit to Grand Teton was impacted by numerous wildfires at that time, covering the park in a definite haze.

Our travels in 2020 were in the midst of the pandemic. The parks were pretty empty and many of the facilities had restricted operations.

On the way to Palm Springs we visited Death Valley National Park

Badwater Basin is the lowest point in the park, some 282 feet below sea level.

Furnace Creek - The Ranch - Borax Museum

At 102 degrees It was actually a cool day in Death Valley. Later in the summer temperatures were in the 120's
The Ranch was the name of the complex where we stayed.

We drove about 20 miles to Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes to take in the sunset

The next morning we arose early to catch the sunrise at Zabriskie Point

Joshua Tree National Park

While we visiting Palm Springs we took a drive to the nearby Joshua Tree National Park. The park is located where the Mohave and the Sonoran deserts meet.

The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

September 2023

On a visit to San Antonio we visited both the Alamo and the San Antonio National Historical Park. The Alamo is a owned and operated by the state of Texas, while the other missions are operated by the National Park Service

Bent's Old Fort National Historical Site

September 2023

On our way back from Texas we stopped at Bent's Old Fort in La Junta, Colorado. The fort is a recreation of a fur trading post from the 1840's located near the Santa Fe trail and Arkansas River The original fort burned down in a fire in 1849 and was reconstructed in the 1970's
