EXAMPLES OF GROUP RIGHTS LICENSING PROGRAMS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Student-Athlete Group Rights Licensing Program?

It is an opportunity for Pioneer athletes to monetize their NIL as a group in collaboration with Denver. In order to be authorized in the program, companies are required to include: a minimum of 3 Denver student-athletes from one sport OR 6 student-athletes from across all Denver sports, AND the Denver logo/trademarks in their product lines.

Why should I opt-in to the program?

As a student-athlete, you have the right to be compensated and now have the opportunity to have your NIL featured on officially licensed co-branded products. This program is an easy, impactful way for current Pioneer to benefit from being associated with Denver athletics. Opting in grants passive use of rights, meaning there are no services required other than completing the opt in form and W-9 for payment.

Am I giving up my individual rights to enter into endorsement or licensing deals?

No, you are not giving away any of your individual endorsement rights. This program only pertains to groups of Pioneer student-athletes paired with school marks. This is an additional income stream unrelated to your individual rights.

Will this conflict with any of my existing endorsement deals?

No, but, if you have an exclusive partner in a particular category let us know and we'll exclude you from that category.

How will royalties be shared among the Group?

If the athlete featured is identifiable (ex. a jersey), that athlete receives the full royalty. If multiple athletes are featured together on a product (ex. a poster), then the athletes featured split the royalty equally.

Of that royalty, TBG retains 30% for our management of the program. Athletes retain the remaining 70%.

Why is TBG managing the program?

TBG currently manages collegiate group licensing programs across the country for both active student-athletes and alumni. Over the last eight years, TBG has helped the NFL, NBA, and MLB Players' Associations and others launch broad collegiate programs. TBG is uniquely qualified to manage this program and identify fair market value for student-athletes.
