Lottie Moon

Lottie Moon was born on December 12, 1820 in Virigina, Albermarle. She had six brothers and sisters and her mother and father were very wealthy. Her mother was very Godly and held church services at home. Her sister soon became a missionary.

Lottie wanted to become a teacher when she grew up. She went to Virgina Female Seminary. Then she went to ALbemarle female institute in Charlottesville.

When Lottie was 18 she went to a church service that he friends took her to. The preacher there talked about God , Jesus and Missions. Lottie knew then she wanted to follow Jesus wherever he would lead her.

Lottie became a teacher and taught in Danville, Kentucky and in Carlersville, Georgia. When she was 32 she decided that God wanted her to become a missionary and go to China in September.

There in China she did all kinds of things one day she decided to one day make cookies for the childern. At first they didnt eat them because someone said they would make them sick. She kept making the cookies. Soon the children came over and started eating them. They started to call her the "cookie lady"

Lottie started to wright letters back to the Foreign Mission Board. She asked for more missionaries. And more money to grow missions work to the Chinese. She was so determined so the Woman's Missionary Union collected the Christmas Offering to give to the Foreign Mission Board. The offering was named for Lottie Moon

Lottie also taught little chinese girls that didnt get education. " What we need in China is more workers. The harvest is very great, the laborers, oh! So few. Why does the Southern Babtist Church lag behind in this great work?" Lottie once quoted.

'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8

Lotties real name was Charlotte Diggs Moon. But everone called her Lottie. Lottie loved to play tricks on people.
