2021 may not have started how any of us planned of envisaged, but the true sense of community continues at Galley Hill. I would like to thank you all for your support and kind words over the past few days, especially as we tried to get Teams up and running. You have been amazing and I would like to thank you for your cooperation.
Lessons will continue from Monday. They have gone extremely well today, with over 90% of the school engaging with them, which is amazing! Thank you for your perseverance!
School life
Whether you have been at home or in school, it has been amazing that you have all been doing the same work. The teachers, as well as myself, are so proud of how you have taken on board all of the new ways of learning and shared all of the amazing work that you have been doing at home, as well as the work of the key worker children in school. A big well done to all of you.
Lunch in school
From next week, we will be able to offer a Hot choice again. This will consist of a Jacket potato or Pasta. There will also be the choice of sandwiches which will come with, fruit, biscuit and a snack.
Resources
If you need anything like exercise books for children to record their work in, please let us know and we can arrange a time for you to come and collect some from the main office. Reading books will not be able to go home at this moment in time. We are looking at what we can offer.
School social media accounts
If you are working from home, you can share your amazing work with us on Teams or via Twitter @Galley_Hill
Free School Meals
Vouchers are being sent to those who are not in school for this week and next week for your preferred supermarket (that you mentioned to the office staff earlier in the week). We will be in contact again next week with a further update and we are hoping that there will be further clarification from the DFE on this
Devices
You may have heard in the news about schools receiving devices to distribute to their school community. At Galley Hill, we have been allocated 1 device. As you can appreciate that is not a great deal and will have little impact on the school community. I have managed to source some laptops that we can repurpose to support those that have mentioned to teachers in their phone calls earlier in the week. If you are in need of a device, please do get in contact with us at school. Unfortunately we can't offer everyone a device, but will try my best to see what we can do to support you. Also, if you need extra support with internet access, please do let us know.
Covid
If you are self isolating or have tested positive and are in school with Key Worker Provision please contact us via the e-mail address: covid@galleyhillprimary.co.uk
Finally
A big thank you to you all for your support this week, all of the kind messages are humbling and greatly received by all staff.
We go again next week and we are here to support you in any way that we can. Please do get in contact with your class teacher or the office if there is anything at all.
