The Ka’s fountain was originally built by Sultan Abu Baker ibn Ayyub, the brother of Salah al Din Al Ayyubi in 589 AH/ 1193 AD.
It was renewed by the Ottoman Sultan Suleman the magnificent, who added the central cup from which water flows into the basin from one piece of marble.
In 1922 the supreme Islamic Council decided to place a metal fence around the water basin and the fountain.
