Are you ready to party?
My name is Sydnie Wittenberg and Baboosh is my Senior Project for Visual Communications at Farmingdale State College. Baboosh is a service that plans parties, specifically bridal and baby showers. Baboosh provides everything one would need to throw a fabulous event including planning materials, decorations, menu suggestions and games.
How It All Began
The idea came after the I overheard someone planning a party. They had asked each guest to bring a required item: one person to bring cups, another food, another for music, and so on. That moment sparked the question, what if there was a service that could coordinate all of that for the user, or better yet ship everything they need right to their door? I had never planned a party before, mostly because the task was daunting.
When I was a child I had the best birthday parties, all planned by my mom. Everyone was always involved and had fun at my backyard parties with their unique themes. I wanted to capture the feeling of these parties and bring them into parties that I now attend as an adult.
Why Showers?
Baboosh specifically sells boxes for baby and bridal showers and plans to expand into more events. Traditionally, many showers have games and activities. Research shows activities are an important part of a party to keep guests active and involved.
Baboosh sets itself apart from other party box competitors by providing an all-inclusive party including games, activities and prizes.
How Baboosh Works
Step 1: Website
Users begin by ordering a box on Baboosh's easy to use website. They can browse, compare, and customize event boxes. Users can also share boxes with friends or collaborators as well as save favorite items for later. Each box is specifically tailored so users can choose games, activities, prizes, and personalized aspects of their event.
Users can also explore possible games and menu ideas, saving them for later. There is also a blog with tips on throwing a successful party.
Step 2: Boxes
After the user orders their customized box they are almost ready for their party. Boxes usually come in two shipping installments. This shipping feature is optional and decided during the checkout process. We recommend the two-installment shipping to make planning and storage easier for customers.
First: An initial Planning Box arrives 1-2 weeks after ordering. This box includes planning materials such as menu suggestions, invitations, a potential To-Do list and other items that will help the party run smoothly.
Next: The second Main Box arrives 1-2 weeks before the event. This box contains everything one needs for the actual event, from decorations to tableware to activities. This box is significantly larger than the first box as it contains many items needed for the event. The Main Box arrives just before the party so it does not become cumbersome to store for the customer.
