Samurai's Tale Theme by Chelsea nguyen

One of the many themes in Samurai's Tale is to never give up. Taro had been through a lot his whole life, from losing his family to being taken in as a servant. He had dreamed of becoming a samurai for so long that he never gives up on his dream. Throughout the story, Taro is seen doing many degrading tasks as a servant, but he doesn't let that stop him from becoming a samurai. He even got his name changed. At the end of the story, he helped his master capture Iwamura castle and helped him with his victory. He also never gives up on his love for Aki, as he will do whatever it takes to win over her heart.
The theme was also love because when Taro saw Aki, it was love at first sight, and he immediately asked Yoichi who she was, and his humble servant told him her name. Taro also aasked if she is betrothed, and when he found out that she wasn't married, he was overjoyed and started writing love poems to her. But when her father found out, he was angry and forbiddened Taro to ever write poems to his daughter again. But at the end, both of them ended up together and escaped Iwamura
The theme was also losing loved ones. At the beginning of the chapter, we saw that Taro lost his family, and was taken in by a warlord with Yone as his only companion. She then later disappeared and Taro befriended a kitchen cook named Togan. But he later saw Togan murdered in front of his eyes. He then befriended Yoshitoki, but he died in battle, and he also lost his master, Lord Akiyama at the end. This shows that Taro is losing his innocence over the years as he is losing his friends and family. It also shows That he is independent and brave, because he has a rough past.
In conclusion, The Samurai's Tale is an amazing story of love and loss, and has many themes in it.
