Electric Vehicle Myths
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are here to stay. With the surge in interest, car manufacturers have accelerated EV production to develop more efficient EVs. Along with everything else in this world, EVs have pros and cons, so let’s debunk some of the myths that might be influencing your decision.
Myth 1: EVs don’t have the range to travel long distances, and there are not enough charging stations. On average, most Americans travel 30 miles per day, and EVs can go approximately 250 miles on one full charge. According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia is sixth in the nation for public EV charging stations, offering more than 1,600 stations across the state.
Myth 2: EVs are only available in sedans. Manufacturers like Kia, Ford, BMW, and Mercedes offer electric SUVs. In addition, Chevrolet, GMC, Toyota, and RAM have released pickup trucks comparable to gas-powered models.
Myth 3: EVs are not in my budget. While the price for some EVs can go well above $150,000, many models fall between $27,000-$50,000. For example, the 2022 Ford F-150 Pro SR has a base price of $39,974. Also, remember that many EVs are eligible for a tax credit.
If you decide that buying an EV is the right choice for you, please get in touch with us at 770-775-7857 so that we can help you meet your EV energy needs safely.
We Are green-e certified

Our Cooperative Solar program harnesses the sun's power without the inconveniences of panel ownership. Add the power of the sun to your energy portfolio with a 1 kW block of solar generation for $19 per month. Visit www.cgemc.com/cooperative-solar to find out more.
Add additional green energy to your mix with biomass. Biomass converts trash into energy while removing hazardous methane gas from the atmosphere. CGEMC offers 150 kWh blocks of biomass energy for only $4.50 monthly. Visit www.cgemc.com/green-power for more information.
The Center for Resource Solutions has awarded us Green-e Energy Certification for our sustainable energy programs. Green-e Energy certification and verification ensures the renewable energy you buy meets the highest standards.

Lineworker Appreciation Day
In recognition of National Lineworker Appreciation Day, CGEMC is excited to share artwork from Washington Park Elementary in Jasper County. The students made encouraging cards for our lineworkers, which they enjoyed reading. A small showing of support like this can go a long way.
Becoming a lineworker takes years of specialized training, continued education, commitment, and, equally important, a sense of service. Lineworkers are on the front lines, ensuring power is restored as soon as possible during outages, in all weather conditions, 24/7, 365 days a year.
Join us and take a moment to show appreciation to a lineworker for their efforts. Use the hashtag #ThankALineworker to show appreciation for the men and women who light up our lives.
In March, the CGEMC Foundation Board granted $17,500 to charitable organizations in our territory. The funds will be used to support programs and initiatives in the communities served by CGEMC.
- Adventure Bags, Inc.: $1,000 - To purchase book bags filled with age-appropriate essential items for children in need.
- Butts County Schools Special Olympics: $2,000 - To help fund items for the Special Olympics event to be held on April 21, 2023.
- Crossroad Christian Church Food Pantry: $4,000 - To purchase food.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in our service territory are invited to submit an application to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation.
Through Operation Round Up, our members support local organizations with a mission to make our communities even better places to live, work, and dream big. By simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the next dollar, you can join in! Our pennies add up to make BIG CHANGE!
