Louisiana legislature invests $14.5 million in LSU Vet Med
This major milestone in our strategic and bold plan for growth reflects our sustained efforts to raise awareness of the value of LSU Vet Med to the state of Louisiana.
We can now initiate and accelerate various capital projects that will further elevate our school. It is an exciting time for all of us, and we are grateful for the collective effort that led to this achievement. Thank you to all our legislators and state officials for believing in LSU Vet Med as we continue to advance as a beacon of excellence in veterinary medicine and biomedical science.
LSU Vet Med is ON THE ROAD AGAIN
We’re everywhere! Faculty and staff members just got back from the Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery meeting in Jacksonville and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Philadelphia. We were there to connect with alumni and recruit faculty and residents. LSU Vet Med is growing and so is the need for more dynamic faculty to join our team!
Next up is the alumni reception held during the AVMA meeting in Denver, CO. Our reception will be Friday night, July 14 at 7:00 PM (MDT) at The Lobby, 2191 Arapahoe Street. Even if you don’t attend the conference, come join us for fellowship, food, and libations!
After that, we will be attending the CMVPR meeting in Fayardo, Puerto Rico on August 25-27. Come see us in the exhibit hall or at brunch on the 27th. More information will be sent out soon.
There are many more events planned at meetings this fall (not to mention our milestone Alumni Reunion Weekend). You can keep up with upcoming LSU Vet Med events by visiting the events page on our website: https://www.lsu.edu/vetmed/alumni/events.php

Your gifts, large and small, make a difference to our future veterinarians
Gifts from our alumni helped build the Stephenson Pet Clinic; funded scholarships; bought equipment and provided funds for departments to use for recruitment, training as well as other needs. Small gifts add up to big impact! If just two-thirds of our alumni gave $50 a year, we could establish a new endowed scholarship to help future generations of veterinarians every year! You can give online at www.lsufoundation.org/givetovetmed or send a check payable to the LSU Foundation (with Vet Med in the memo line) to the LSU Foundation at 3796 Nicholson Dr. Baton Rouge, LA 70802. All gifts count towards the class giving awards.
We are actively seeking patients to participate in clinical trials!
Clinical trial protocols are reviewed by both the Clinical Protocol Review Committee (LSU Vet Med Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences) and LSU’s Institutional Animal and Care Use Committee (IACUC) to ensure that welfare and confidentiality matters are observed. These reviews are patterned on the concept of good clinical practices for conduct of clinical trials in human medicine.
Please follow this link to see the lists of clinical trials.
